    Travel Style

This is not your typical tourist trip. Expect a queer-centered travel experience rooted in community, cultural immersion, and genuine connection. We’ll explore Tulum through a local queer lens, swimming in hidden cenotes, sharing meals prepared by Mayan women, supporting LGBTQ-run spaces, and slowing down enough to truly take it all in. This trip blends adventure, self-care, foodie experiences, and chosen-family energy into one unforgettable week. Whether we’re floating through the Sian Ka’an biosphere, sipping margaritas by the pool, or dancing the night away in Tulum town, every experience is designed to spark joy, connection, and lasting memories.

    Where Will We Be Staying?

Our home for the week will be a boutique private villa tucked away in the lush jungle close to Tulum town. Complete with sparkling pools, cozy interiors, and beautiful communal spaces, it will be the perfect safe space for connection and queer joy.

The exact villa will be chosen closer to the trip start date dependent on group size. Photos of the villas we have reserved are pictured below. Regardless of which we choose, you can expect thoughtful amenities, delicious breakfasts daily, and a level of service that will make you feel safe, seen, and spoiled.

This trip is for the trans and gender non-conforming community. The itinerary was carefully curated with travel experiences designed for transgender and nonbinary folks of all ages and identities and their partners of course!

Absolutely! While this is a trans and non-binary centered group trip, your partner(s) are more than welcome to join. Afterall, no one else understands the trans and gender diverse community more than their partners who have experienced their journey along side them.

Absolutely! Many of our guests come solo and leave with lifelong friends. We offer shared rooms for solo travelers who are open to sharing their space, or private solo rooms at an additional cost.

This trip is all about community, so you’ll never be left feeling like the third wheel.

For this trip, we can accommodate a group size of up to 16 people (plus hosts).

Introverts, have no fear! Regardless of group size, our accommodation and laidback itinerary will provide you with plenty of time and space to yourself for recharging your social battery.

No, this is not a party trip. There will be plenty of margaritas, music, dancing, and a night out on the town for those who want to explore Tulum’s nightlife. But, the overall vibe of the trip is much more laid back. We’re talking connection and socializing rather than clubbing every night.

We’ll be staying at a private boutique villa nestled in the jungle near Tulum town, similar to those pictured in the “Where We’ll Stay” tab above.

The specific accommodation will be chosen closer to the retreat date, and will vary depending on group size. Regardless of the villa we select, you can be assured that it will be a beautiful mix of luxury comfort and local charm.

A minimum of 8 travelers is needed for this trip to run. We will confirm whether the minimum has been met two months before the trip start date. If the minimum isn’t met, you’ll receive a full refund.

We recommend that you wait to book flights until after the trip is confirmed, unless your tickets offer full flexibility. Queer Connect will not reimburse third-party costs (airfare, visas, insurance, etc.).

Please plan to fly into Tulum International Airport on Tuesday, January 19th before check-in and our evening welcome gathering at the villa. We recommend arriving earlier in the day (or a day early) whenever possible to allow time for airport transfers, settling in, and relaxing/recovering from jetlag before meeting the group.

Full arrival details, transportation information, and villa check-in instructions will be shared with confirmed travelers prior to the trip.

Accommodation, most meals, transportation, activities, excursions, guides, entertainment, and support from your hosts. Everything but flights, travel insurance, and transportation from the airport to the accommodation.

See more details under the “What’s Included” tab above.

Yes! The itinerary is full, but spacious. You’ll have plenty of free time to rest, explore, or opt out of activities when needed. This is your vacation. We’re just here to help you get the full experience.

Most of your major trip expenses are already covered. That said, you’ll probably want some extra spending money for personal purchases and optional experiences throughout the week.

Some things you may want extra money for:

    • A few meals or snacks during free time
    • Cocktails and mid-day coffee runs
    • Shopping at local markets and queer-owned businesses
    • Optional activities or spontaneous adventures
    • Spa treatments, massages, tattoos, or wellness experiences
    • Souvenirs and artisan goods

Here’s a rough guide for how much spending money to bring (per person), depending on your travel style:

    Budget Babe: $150–$300 USD

Perfect if you’re mostly sticking to included activities and meals, grabbing tacos from local spots, and picking up a few small souvenirs along the way.

    Mid-Tier Queer: $400–$700 USD

A comfortable range for a mix of cocktails, shopping, extra dining experiences, spa treatments, and enjoying Tulum without stressing too much about every purchase.

    Big Spender Energy: $800+ USD

Ideal if you love beach clubs, upscale dining, wellness experiences, tattoos, boutique shopping, frequent cocktails, or treating yourself throughout the trip.

Tulum can be both affordable and luxurious depending on your vibe. Street tacos are inexpensive and incredible, while beach clubs and upscale restaurants can add up quickly. We’ll share our favorite local recommendations so you know where to splurge, save, and get the best experience possible.

You can choose to pay in full, or reserve your spot with a 25% deposit. Simply select the deposit option and proceed to checkout. The remaining balance will be due 90 days prior to the trip start date.

We accept Stripe (all major cards except Amex).

If you need to split the cost into more than 2 payments, we also offer payment plans via Klarna, or you can message us and we’ll do our best to create another solution for you.

Your deposit is non-refundable (unless the trip is cancelled by us). For more details, you can view our full Cancellation & Refund Policy

We strongly recommend it, and partner with SafetyWing for flexible, queer-friendly coverage.

Most likely, yes. We do our best to make our trips accessible to everyone. But before booking, please email us to make sure we can support you and ensure the trip is safe and comfortable for your needs.

While this is not a substance-fueled party space, we aren’t party killers! We will have plenty of alcoholic drinks available throughout the trip and encourage you to enjoy yourselves! You’re adults, so do as you please – all we ask is that you be respectful of the rest of the group and don’t get carried away. We prioritize collective care and consent.
